WHEREAS, the members of the Missouri House of Representatives hold in high esteem those Show-Me State businesses that have proven down through the years to be exemplary components of the economic foundations of local communities and neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Conco Quarries of Willard, Missouri, demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the citizens and institutions of its hometown during the severe winter weather that disrupted electrical power in January 2007; and
WHEREAS, when Conco Quarries was approached by the city of Willard to assist with temporary sources of electrical power, the company immediately provided generators to power the water system and the wastewater lift stations, thereby averting wastewater overflows that would have totaled hundreds of thousands of gallons each day; and
WHEREAS, not content with completing that major job and realizing there was more to be done to help Willard citizens in need, Conco Quarries provided an additional generator to restore partial power to the Willard Community Center to allow the city to open a community shelter with a capacity of sixty beds and with cooking capabilities; and
WHEREAS, Conco Quarries then established a generator at North Elementary School to allow heat and lights for a “storm kid camp” that gave working parents the opportunity to return to their daily jobs; and
WHEREAS, Conco Quarries continued its good deeds by using its expertise to reestablish partial power to the police department by installing small generators purchased for that purpose by the city; and
WHEREAS, when the town subsequently was restored to normal sources of power, Conco Quarries sent their electrician to disconnect the multiple generators and enable municipal facilities to safely return to the regular Empire system:
